There are two ways to back up: the active family register or all or part of the system.
The first is most frequently used and is used when closing the register. Backing up the system may be used less often as it takes a lot of space if you have a lot of material.
A backup of the system is preferable if you move your research between different computers and should then at least contain place register, media and the registers you want to use. You then restore the backup to the other computer.
In the Backup window, you can choose to save a copy of the family register in the default folder, or to save at any location on the computer. If you earlier the same day have made a backup, you also get a choice if you want to overwrite the previous or save a new copy. Choose location for the copy.
After a backup of the active family has been made, you are asked if you want to save the family register as a gedcom file. (Recommended)
It is recommended to use the default directory as the location for your backups.
It allows you to easily find them when you need to restore the family register with the copy.
