Publish
Exports your family register or parts of it to navigable web pages.
The above command opens the Webpublish window.
In the window you select Template for content which contains predefiened templates.
The templates define the appearance of the web pages but also the data that will be included in the publication.
You can create new templates by changing a template and saving in another name and Save.
You reset to the default value with Reset.
Settings for the template are made in the seven tabs in the window.
- General
- Title, which is the page title of the web pages and the name of your project.
- Select folder, where you select the folder in which your web publishing is to be saved.
- Edit startpage, where you design your startpage.
- Parents/ancestors, where you choose how ancestors are presented.
- Children/descendants, where you choose how descendants are presented.
- Show tooltip for ancestors and descendants, where you choose whether an tooltip with more detailed text will appear when you hold the mouse over the person.
- Show events in table, where you choose if events are presented in tabular form or running text.
- Show age for events, where you choose if age should be presented and which prefix should be displayed at approximate age.
- Show map for events, where you choose whether you want to present the life path on map.
Here you also choose the type of map you want to use.
- Always show map, where you choose whether a map should always be displayed.
- Show map as default, where you choose ia the map should be visible by default.
- Appearance where you can change the look of the current template.
The list contains a number of items for which you can change fonts, colors and depending on items some effects.
The changes appear under Preview.
- Selection where you select persons and can make restrictions by date.
- Individual data where you specify which personal data will be included in the publication.
- Family data where you specify which family data will be included in the publication.
- Sources where you specify which source data will be included in the publication.
- Submitter where you provide information about the data provider for publication.
When you're done with your settings, select Export to create the web publishing.
A progress bar shows the progress in the status bar.
The process takes place in the background so you can keep working in the meantime.
To present your material on the internet, you need a web hosting and a domain.
Once you have acquired it, you can upload your files to the webhotel with an ftp program
or with software provided by the hosting company.
Try to expriment with a small selection of persons until you get satisfied.
Some things, such as individual lists, may not work locally depending on your browser.
