Inheritance of haplogroup
When changing a haplogroup for a person, a selection window opens for the inheritance of the haplogroup.
Genney manage two different haplogroup types:
- Y-DNA
Which is inherited on the male side, i.e. a man's all sons and their sons, etc.
-
Mt-DNA (Mitochondrial DNA)
Which is inherited on the woman's side, i.e. a woman's all daughters and their daughters, etc.
The sons also inherit mt-DNA but can not pass it on.
When changing a haplogroup
for a person, a window opens to select how the change will be inherit.
The window contains a hierarchical tree with all people who have potentially the same haplogroup.
- The whole tree is fully expanded, and the person from whom the inheritance
is based is marked with an arrow
.
- Haplogroups for persons who already have a haplogroup associated with
the current type (Y-DNA or mtDNA) are displayed in italics in front of the name.
- Persons with a warning triangle
already have a haplogroup that is in conflict
with the haplogroup to which the action applies.
- Persons with a lock icon
are locked and will not be affected and act as a barrier for the legacy to move on, both up and down.
- Persons with a green icon
are persons without conflicts.
- Persons with a red icon
are checked persons who will not be affected by the change.
- Checked persons will be affected by the action unless a person is locked,
then the person and persons who come after the inheritance are ignored.
A single click selects/deselectes a person and Shift + click selects/deselects
the person and all the person's descendants.
The inheritance is only performed when the person in the biography is saved.
