Manage non-biological relationships

In Genney you can have relationships that are not based on procreation, for example, same-sex couples and foster parents.

If there is a non-biological connection it appears in the tables with a raised prefix in front of the child or parent, depending on the type of board. A = adopted child, F = foster child, SL = relative, S = stepchildren, Vh = guardian and they rarely use FS = sealed, O = disputed and M = disproved.

To specify a non-biological connection

  1. Highlight the person that is child in the non-biological relationship.
  2. Open Biography (Main menu > Biography) and go to the  Family tab.
  3. Under the heading Parents select parent and the type for the parent concerned.
  4. Select the relationship from the type list.
  5. Save your changes.

If you have multiple parents linked to a person, then parents that you specified as the first family will appear in pedigrees, regardless of whether the parents are biological or not.

In the pedigree and ancestors pedigree you can switch parents in the view.
