Kinship calculator

The Kinship calculator lets you easily see if two people are related and how they are related. With kinship we mean that two people have a common ancestor in a direct line.

The Kinship calculator consists of a pedigree with a graphical view of the relationship between two people; Person 1 and Person 2. You choose which people to be compared below the pedigree. Person 1 automatically becomes the person who is the main person. You can also change persons with the Individual search tool.

  If you want to compare a person with a certain group of people, put the person you want to compare as Person 2 and open the group as a individual list. Highlighted person in the list changes Person 1 and you can easily go through the list..

  How to prepare a list (group) of relatives for a person:

  1. Make sure to seek (or select) the same person for both the person 1 and one person 2.
  2. Click the search button in the main menu or use keyboard command F3.
  3. Select the kinship tab.
  4. Select related for search.
  5. Select the number of generations, or choose unlimited for both ancestors and descendants.
  6. Click the Search button.
  7. The search results appear in the list on the left, and there are now all people that is related to person 2 the kinship calculator.
  8. Click on a person in the list and person 1 is changed and shows how the two persons are related.
